Much Better Than a Rock

We're in the home stretch now — summer vacation dwindles, and the school year rapidly approaches. Parents and kids are clearly up on each other's tits right now, but there is a remedy: You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Stages St. Louis presents the musical version of Charles Schulz's beloved Peanuts comic strip at 11 a.m. Wednesday through Sunday (August 9 through 20) at the Robert G. Reim Theatre (111 South Geyer Road, Kirkwood; 314-821-2407 or www.stagesstlouis.com). Parents, take a half-day off from work and bring the brood to the theater so that all of you can enjoy the antics of Charlie Brown, Lucy, Schroeder, Linus and Snoopy. You'll get a little vacation yourself, and everybody gets out of the house. If Snoopy's "Suppertime" number can't bring you all together in joy, ain't nothing gonna do it. Better to just disband the family and join other families. But Charlie Brown won't fail you — well, not in this case. Tickets are an affordable $14 to $16.
Wednesdays-Sundays. Starts: Aug. 9. Continues through Aug. 20
