Why spend $3 to $10 to get into the annual Best of Missouri Market at the Missouri Botanical Garden (4344 Shaw Boulevard; 314-577-9400) when St. Louis is lousy with farmers markets? Maybe because the BOMM attracts more than 130 artisans from across the state who make everything from apple butter to willow furniture. And the kids will have fun milking a cow, decorating doughnuts and participating in other activities. Plus, this fall festival is known to offer free samples: Those mini-portions of buffalo jerky and homemade salsa and Norton wine quickly add up to more than the price of a ticket. The market is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (October 6 and 7); for more information about the scheduled entertainment and other goodies, visit www.mobot.org.
