Minute to Win It

Like that bag of M&M's you gobbled up while waiting your turn in the grocery line, the pieces presented during 60x60 Dance are short-lived, but supremely satisfying. The local dancers have just 60 seconds to reveal their message, their point of view, through choreography set to original compositions. Director/composer Robert Voisey collected and culled 60 musical arrangements from many more submissions, all to inspire the performers and stimulate the audience. Tick-tock, tick-tock. What strategy will our gifted dancers employ to share their perspectives in such a short amount of time? Should they just try to demonstrate a single concept, an emotion, let's say? Or should they tell a short story, with a distinct beginning, middle and end? Or should they just go with what moves them, to hell with a precise concept? We're thinking that at this diverse performance, you can expect to see all of the above and then some. The Sheldon Concert Hall (3648 Washington Boulevard) hosts 60x60 Dance at 7:30 p.m.; tickets cost $7 to $15 through MetroTix (314-534-1111 or Visit for more information.
