Microscopic vs. Macroscopic

Olivia Lahs-Gonzales and Andrew Millner both find inspiration in flora, but they respond to their muse in very different ways. Lahs-Gonzales hones in closely on the plants — photographing blades of grass so that they appear to be the size of sequoias or shooting up toward the sky from under a fallen leaf — skewing the normal perceptions of size and scale. Millner goes toward the other end of the spectrum, creating digital drawings of trees and gardens that reveal every branch, twig and sprout; one of his largest pieces is 26 feet long, an entire swath of garden recorded by hand.
