Lost Daughter Discovered

Back in 2006, the Riverfront Times named St. Louis native Lucy Ferriss' riveting semi-autobiographical novel, Unveiling the Prophet: The Misadventures of a Reluctant Debutante, Best Book by a Local Author. Since then, readers have been anxiously awaiting the publication of Ferris' sixth novel, The Lost Daughter, which has just been released to national acclaim. The book's set-up originated in the headlines. Ten years ago came a rash of stories about babies found in dumpsters, abandoned by upper-middle class teenage parents. From this kernel of an idea, The Lost Daughter weaves a harrowing tale of three lives speeding down a psychological collision course -- paved with regret, derailed by guilt and devoid of redemption. Lucy Ferriss reads from and discusses her new work at 4 p.m. today. at Left Bank Books (399 North Euclid Avenue; 314-367-6731 or The event is free and open to the public.
