There are few things that people like looking at more than other people, with the notable exceptions being puppy dogs, kittens and smartphones. From the earliest cave paintings to Michelangelo's David to Grant Wood's American Gothic, the human figure is undoubtedly the most enduring theme in the visual arts. The Foundry Art Centre (520 North Main Center, St. Charles; 636-255-0270 or www.foundryartcentre.org) presents Figurative Works, an exhibition of area artists' depictions of the human form. Expect a multitude of media and states of dress with work from more than two dozen participating artists including Natalie Baldeon, Holly Brewer, Eric England, Michael Reedy, Christy Sawyer and Marjorie Williamson. The show opens with a free reception from 6 to 8 p.m Friday, January 24, and the work remains on display Tuesday through Sunday through Friday, March 7.
