Living the Dream

Richard Winter is an area businessman who strongly supports the local art community by serving on numerous boards and festival committees. But beyond backing the creation of art in a general sense, Winter engages with art on a personal level as an avid collector. It's this collection which serves as the foundation of The Dream, a new exhibition at Saint Louis University Museum of Art (3663 Lindell Boulevard; 314-977-2666 or The show includes 85 different paintings, prints and sculptures by 25 different artists, many of them local. In addition to the art, the show includes Winter's recollections about meeting the artists and the insights he gained through these interactions. Through The Dream, Winter showcases the benefits of fostering a relationship with artists: a richer life and a strengthened community. The Dream opens with a free public reception at 5 p.m. on Friday, August 15. The work remains on display through Sunday, October 12, and the gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Admission is free.
