We're going to let you in on a little secret: Opera is the new film. Of course, we're not saying that movies aren't cool anymore; we just know opera's going to be big (again). So, you want to get in on the ground floor of this trend, don't you? Well, then head over to one of four Wehrenberg Theatres (the Galaxy 14 Ciné in Chesterfield, south county's Ronnies 20 Ciné, the O'Fallon 15 Ciné in Illinois or the St. Charles Stadium 18 Ciné) while our city's opera companies are between seasons. These big screens offer showings of seven different operas, courtesy of either the San Francisco Opera or the Teatro alla Scala in Italy. At 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday (March 29 through April 1), San Francisco's Samson and Delilah is featured, which tells the story of he of the hair and she with the figurative scissors (all in French with English subtitles). You can catch this work and others by paying $18 to $20 for your tickets. For more information about theater addresses, show times and the other screenings, which run through mid-May, visit www.wehrenberg.com.
