in Tilles Park (9551 Litzsinger Road, Ladue) is one of those St. Louis traditions you hear so much about, one of those local customs that's so deeply encoded in our collective regional DNA, you might be skeptical about actually experiencing it for yourself. Don't be. This holiday ritual really needs to be seen firsthand, whether you've lived here for twenty years or five weeks. This dazzling array of Christmas lights and illuminated displays representing favorite seasonal characters and scenes stretches for more than a mile and features upwards of a million individual lights. Even if you get stuck in a long, long line of vehicles waiting to enter the park, be patient: The wait is worth it. One would have to be hardest of hardcore grinches to remain unmoved. And what better day to tour this Wonderland than today, Christmas day? Winter Wonderland is open to vehicular traffic Sunday through Friday from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. through Tuesday, January 1, 2013 (closed on Christmas Eve and New Year's Day). Admission fees are based on the size of the vehicle, with anything smaller than a limousine costing just $10; call 314-615-8822 for more information.
