Five years ago, at age 27, St. Peters resident Tammy Figg experienced sheer happiness and then unthinkable heartache. That year, she became engaged to her sweetheart, Bryan. But just six weeks before the wedding, she received a shocking diagnosis: colorectal cancer. Highly uncommon in adults younger than 50, the cancer wreaked havoc on Tammys health and jeopardized her and Bryans chance of having a family. The young couple had very little money for expensive treatments, so their friends and family set up a foundation to help them. Today, Tammy and Bryan have a healthy baby boy, and the Figg Tree Foundation provides education, support and financial assistance to colorectal-cancer patients nationwide. Want to help this most-worthy cause? Do so tonight at 7 p.m., when the foundation presents Whats Up Your Butt? at the Comedy Forum (4141 North Cloverleaf Drive, St. Peters; 636-498-1234 or www.comedyforum.com).
