When: Wed., Dec. 30, 12-3 p.m. 2015
In this space before the new year, celebration coupled with reflection can fill your downtime with both purpose and relaxation. During the Kwanzaa: Festival of the First Fruits event at the Missouri Botanical Garden (4344 Shaw Boulevard; 314-577-5100 or www.mobot.org), you'll have more than enough time to ponder and learn from stories, revel in African drumming and music, and consider the harvest of your life and how you'll plant for the future. Plus, if weather permits, you can always take a stroll around the garden grounds for a different perspective of the usually lush landscape. Admission to the festival, which runs from noon to 3 p.m., is included with your regular garden admission ($3 to $8).
Price: free with regular admission ($3-$8)
