Kickstarting Creativity

Calling all creative-minded creatures: Kickstarter School wants to teach you how to launch those ambitious ideas off the ground and realize awesome projects, free of charge. (A Kickstarter campaign is what helped the Luminary Center for the Arts reach its goal of expanding/relocating to Cherokee Street by raising more than $22,000. That’s only one successful example of what this funding platform can help accomplish.) Kickstarter’s director of art programs, Stephanie Pereira, will visit the Regional Arts Commission (6128 Delmar Boulevard, University City; 314-863-5811 or www.art-stl.com) from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, March 19. Hear Pereira and other speakers give tips on effective ways to structure a project -- and take strangers’ money to fund it. Stick around for the reception scheduled for the end of the evening.
