Jumpin' Jack Flashback

One can debate whether the Rolling Stones really do deserve their (self-anointed) title of "world's greatest rock band," but one can't dispute that when the boys are firing on all cylinders they're hard to beat. Evidence of this has been recently unearthed in the form of archival footage of the Stones on their 1978 tour of America. The Rolling Stones: Some Girls Live in Texas captures a full show of prime Stones on a night when everybody was well and truly feeling it. All the snarl, sneer and swagger is captured during a stop in Fort Worth, with songs from the then-new Some Girls album ("Beast of Burden") getting equal time with established favorites ("Tumbling Dice" and "Brown Sugar"), as well as some tasteful Chuck Berry covers ("Let It Rock" showed up quite a bit on that tour). Some Girls Live In Texas gets a special one-night only simulcast in movie theaters nationwide this evening. You can see the Stones in all their glory on the big screen at 7:30 p.m. at the St. Louis Mills 18 (5555 St. Louis Mills Boulevard, Hazelwood; Tickets are $12.50.
