John Lithgow, star of stage, screen and radio (he was the voice of Yoda in the official radio adaptation of Empire Strikes Back), clearly loves the art of storytelling. But where does that love come from? Well, that's an interesting story in its own right. His one-man show Stories by Heart explains the origin of John Lithgow the actor as a product of his grandmother and father's passion for tales. He brackets his own legend with performances of two short stories that greatly influenced him: P.G. Wodehouse's "Uncle Fred Flits By," and Ring Lardner's "Haircut."
