Jena Berlin

8 p.m. Wednesday, October 4. Lemp Neighborhood Arts Center, (3301 Lemp Avenue)

Although Jena Berlin is still in the midst of a seemingly endless tour for its dynamic debut, Passion Waits as the Program Keeps Going, the brazenly DIY act shows no sign of relenting. Sounding like a cross between Jawbox and Drive Like Jehu, the band (who take their name from a Marxist philosophy) has toured with everyone from None More Black to Latterman, and cite trailblazing emo acts such as Boy Sets Fire and Texas Is the Reason as key inspirations. Jena Berlin's sophomore release, Quo Vadimus, is due out early next year, so be prepared to hear a mix of both new and old material live — and while you're at it, get ready to be blown away.
