Jane's Addiction

8 p.m. Wednesday, February 22. The Pageant, 6161 Delmar Boulevard.

After an eight-year dormant period, Jane's Addiction has (and the hype backing it) erupted in a fury of over-saturated and unsatisfied expectations with the release of last year's The Great Escape Artist, featuring the group's creepiest album art to date. But there's a lot to be uncovered in the record's obvious theme of escapism. Less ambitious and more mature (although still a badass, frontman Perry Farrell is now 52 years old), the band's experimental-art narrative is augmented by more modern melodies. In their latest life, the guys are growing older just as begrudgingly as you would expect.

Recommended If You Like: Nostalgia. If you willfully ignore Farrell's Satellite Party days and focus on his hips (those hips!), you'll experience the full impact of the spectacle.
