Inaugural Gentry Lecture: "Imperial Collaborators of Early St. Louis"

When: Thu., Oct. 8, 5-6:30 p.m. 2015

It is well known that France and Spain claimed the Mississippi Valley in the colonial period, and that the founding of St. Louis took place under the sovereignty of “empire.” But what did that fact mean for the early history of St. Louis? Robert Morrissey, popular Les Amis lecturer, has been chosen to give the Inaugural Gentry Lecture. He teaches history at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and specializes in the history of early America and the Atlantic world, borderlands, ethnohistory, and environmental history.
