Our 60th Season ends in a stunning setting of the Requiem by Ildebrando Pizzetti. This arrangement for 12 voices leans on Gregorian plainsong but uses a rich harmonic palette that will evoke glimpses of the heavenly choir itself. Complementing this will be three Renaissance masterpieces, Schütz’s Selig Sind die Toten, Lobo’s Versa Est in Luctum, and des Pres’ Dulces Exuviae. Sasha Johnson Manning’s Miss Me, But Let Me Go is a premiere, with composer Manning visiting from England for the event. It will be complemented by Tavener’s Funeral Ikos and other works.
