Hunx and His Punx

8:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 13. The Firebird, 2706 Olive Street.

Oakland-based Hunx and His Punx create salaciously catchy bubblegum garage pop. Similar in sound to neo-garage rockers such as the Black Lips and Shannon and the Clams, HaHP bring a flamboyant aesthetic, mixing Dionysian glam with the rock & roll flair of Hasil Adkins. Live, lead singer Seth Bogart oozes sexual energy and is backed by the latest lineup: an all-girl band known as the Punkettes. Tied by the romance of '60s pop, the band revels in a sassy blend of LGBT themes and the filthy kitsch of John Waters. With the pedal to the metal, rock & roll is back in black — leather, that is.

In Case You Don't Know: Hunx leading man, Seth Bogart, used to front the pro-queer electro-glam outfit Gravy Train!!!!
