Here Comes the World

It's a great big world out there. It doesn't always feel like it when you're locked into your daily routine, but it's out there. The Telluride Mountain Film Festival brings the world to you, through the lens and lives of some of the folks in far-flung places doing amazing things. There are short films about the folks who climb mountains and those who ski down them; Mongolian archers and Irish peat cutters; Brazilians who recycle long surfboards into short boards, and a New York surfer who lost everything in Superstorm Sandy. The Telluride Mountain Film Festival visits the Hi-Pointe Theatre (1005 McCausland Avenue; www.alpineshop.com) from 7 to 10 p.m., and tickets are $15 to $20.
