It's been 30 years since The Cosby Show debuted, and the world has changed -- and so has Bill Cosby. The standup comic and occasional actor is still a comedy icon, but following the revelation of an extramarital affair, the murder of his only son, Ennis, and Cosby's own public comments regarding black-on-black crime and "thug life," Bill Cosby has become something other than an infallible sit-com dad. Which is only right; he's a human being, and humans are complex, fallible creatures. Mark Whitaker tells the true story of Bill Cosby, from high school dropout to becoming the man who almost bought NBC, in his new biography, Cosby: His Life and Times. Whitaker discusses the book and its fascinating subject at 7 p.m. tonight at St. Louis County Library Headquarters (1640 South Lindbergh Boulevard, Frontenac; 314-994-3300 or Admission is free.
