Hanks You Very Much

More and more, we're starting to think that Tom Hanks really is an astronaut. For starters, there's his performance in Apollo 13; he seemed to really know what he was doing in that rocket ship. Also, according to, he's related to Abe Lincoln (we're not sure what this has to do with anything, seeing as the Honest One didn't visit space, but it's a cool fact). And now, Hanks narrates Magnificent Desolation: Walking on the Moon, a film showing at the OMNIMAX Theater at the Saint Louis Science Center (5050 Oakland Avenue). During this 40-minute movie, you and Hanks get to stroll on our satellite's surface, along with twelve astronauts, and learn what it's really like up there. Fortunately, tickets for this space-travel-with-a-celebrity are cheaper than you would imagine: only $7 to $8 (at 314-289-4424 or! Magnificent Desolation screens Thursday, August 31, at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., so catch it before it closes on Monday, September 4.
