Great Entertainment at Any Price

Vincent Price was an actor, a gourmet cook, an art lover, a raconteur – if you had to pick someone to represent the fine qualities of our fair town, native St. Louisan Mr. Price would be an excellent choice. Thomas Stockman certainly knows this to be true, which is why he's honoring the great man with a special Super-8 Vincent Price Movie Madness in 3-D this evening from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Way Out Club (2525 Jefferson Avenue). Screening condensed versions (just the good stuff) from a plethora of Price films, including The Pit and the Pendulum, War-Gods of the Deep and the cult classic The Conqueror Worm (you may also know it as Witchfinder General) is not enough of a celebration, so Stockman will also set up a video projector so we can enjoy Price's turn as the villain Egghead in the campy, mid-60s Batman TV show. The “3-D” part of the evening comes in the form of Price's The Mad Magician, and non-Vincent Price films The Creature from the Black Lagoon and Pardon My Backfire, which stars the Three Stooges. That's a whole lot of thrills for only $3.
