To those of a certain age, Glen Phillips will always be the vocalist for Toad the Wet Sprocket, the folksy, R.E.M.-influenced band that dominated radio in the '90s with a string of longing hits — i.e., "All I Want," "Fall Down," "Walk on the Ocean" and "Something's Always Wrong." But since Toad dissolved in 1998 (they've since started touring again sporadically and will appear at Live on the Levee this summer), Phillips has cultivated quite a bustling solo career. His new CD, Mr. Lemons, matches the sensitive tone of his band — albeit one more appropriate for a sparser, coffeehouse setting.
