Ms. Day doesn't normally like to do this, but she knows your mind is elsewhere, dear reader, and that you'll feel terrible if you're so distracted by the upcoming election that you forget the most important day of the year: her birthday. You totally weren't going to remember, were you? It's OK! She understands — as long as you make use of this gentle reminder and take the time to pick out something lovely and heartfelt. For help, just head to the St. Louis Artists' Guild (2 Oak Knoll Park, Clayton; 314-727-6266 or www.stlouisartistsguild.org) for ARTstravaganza. This charming fair, featuring works by the Best of Missouri Hands artists (www.bestofmissourihands.org), runs from 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday (October 24 through 26). That should give you enough time to choose a painting or a photograph for Day's boudoir, or perhaps a necklace to adorn her delicate neck (like the one pictured, which was made by Joan Stern), or maybe even a quirky, cool teapot to add to her collection. Yes, you will find endless gift opportunities for Day at this art fair! And because admission is free, you just might have enough money left over to pick out something nice for yourself.
