Gear Up

You can't tell it by looking at her, but Ms. Day is big into cars. Huge, in fact. She lo-o-o-ves the roar of their engines, their shiny exteriors, their plush, comfy interiors and, most of all, how they ride. Needless to say, Saturday is going to be a big day for her. Along the 4100 block of Manchester Avenue, all kinds of hot rods and custom motorcycles will be out and about for Day to drool over during Grease, Gears & Grooves (, an indoor/outdoor all-day, all-night festival. The party begins at noon with a street fair, car and bike competitions, and live music. Then at 6 p.m., the good times move inside the Atomic Cowboy (4140 Manchester Avenue), which offers more live music (thanks to the Rum Drum Ramblers among others), games of horseshoes and washers, a pole-dancing extravaganza (at 10 p.m. at the Fox Hole next door) and much more. Admission to Grease, Gears & Grooves is free, but you'll want to bring along some cash to purchase food while you're at the party and maybe to get your ride polished up by the girls of the Show-Me's Restaurants. Your vehicle can never be too clean, right?
