Gaslight Anthem

7 p.m. Tuesday, December 4. Pop's, 401 Monsanto Avenue, Sauget, Illinois.

At this point in Gaslight Anthem's life, the band has graced magazine covers, landed on year-end best-albums lists, shared the stage with Bruce Springsteen and been touted as the next Clash. These accomplishments are the result of the New Jersey group's hard labor and honest songwriting: a rags-to-riches rock & roll fairy tale that often feels like an artifact of the pre-Internet world. Playing the first installment of the Point's (105.7 FM) annual Ho-Ho Shows is not exactly a career highlight for the band, but it is proof that Gaslight Anthem has climbed into another echelon of traditional success.

Opening Act: Greek Fire occupies a more conventional area of the Point's "Everything Alternative" Venn diagram, but even so the St. Louis band is experiencing something reminiscent of Gaslight's upward trajectory.
