From the Coffin to the Tanning Bed

Since Max Shreck's nightmare-inducing turn in 1922's Nosferatu and Bela Lugosi's defining portrayal nine years later in Dracula, countless actors have depicted the king of vampires on the silver screen. But of all the stars to don the fangs and cape, none was more ironic than George Hamilton, the hardest-working tan in show business. In Love at First Bite, the leather-skinned celeb's take on the sunlight-fearing Count sees Vlad bailing on Transylvania and lovin' the nightlife in a swinging '70s New York City. These three classic Dracs are screened at 8 p.m. tonight in the lean and mean Super-8 format for Super-8 Vampire Movie Madness at the Way Out Club (2525 South Jefferson Avenue; 314-664-7638). Also on the bill is the fang-tastic John Carradine in Universal Studios' monster mash-up House of Dracula, Christopher Lee in Hammer's Dracula: Prince of Darkness and Francis Lederer in the 1958 schlock-fest The Return of Dracula. Admission is just $3.
