First Friday: Jurassic Park

by

For a species that died off millions of years ago, dinosaurs sure get a lot of exposure. These overactive fossils can be seen in the OMNIMAX Theater as part of the Saint Louis Science Center's First Friday festivities. Dig a free screening of The Lost World: Jurassic Park, the 1997 sequel about the most ineptly run amusement park ever, along with trivia, a dino-matching game and dino-themed comics by Lindsay Hornsby. There are also two lectures: "The Real Dinosaurs of Jurassic Park," from writer and paleontologist Brian Switek (he's the paleontology adviser for the new Jurassic Park film), and "Missouri's Ozark Dinosaurs," presented by Michael Fix of the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Plus, a "real" T. rex will roam the science center during the evening.

6-11:30 p.m. Fri., Apr. 3. Saint Louis Science Center (5050 Oakland Avenue; 314-289-4400 or www.slsc.org). $4 to $5 for lectures, everything else is free.
Fri., April 3, 6-11:30 p.m., 2015
