Fast and Furious Films

On June 3 hundreds of local filmmakers submitted short films that they'd shot, edited and completed in the span of 48 hours, incorporating a randomly selected character, prop, line of dialogue and genre. Each cinematic labor of love screened at the Tivoli Theatre (6350 Delmar Boulevard; University City) from June 5 to June 7, leading up to this evening's official 48 Hour Film Project Best Of Screening at 7 p.m. Not only will filmmakers and fans get to see a massive selection of fantastic, locally produced short films in one sitting, but the winners of this year's fest will also be announced. There is an additional international prize, and the ten best films of 2012's tour will be screened at the Cannes Film Festival's Short Film Corner -- will one of the St. Louis shorts take top honors? Tickets are $9 and can be purchased online or at the Tivoli Theatre. For more information, call 314-995-6270 or visit
