Everywhere a Cluck, Cluck

When old man MacDonald set up his farm, we're certain he did so comfortably outside of the city limits, what with the cows, pigs, horses and everything else he had out there making all manner of noise. But nowadays, especially with the smaller barnyard creatures, it's not uncommon for them to live in the back yards of city dwellers, clucking about and providing their caretakers with fresh eats, whether it's goats with milk or chickens with eggs. In the 2008 documentary Mad City Chickens, many chicken-loving families are pecked out, showing how their feathered friends have become popular and offering an informative look into chicken-keeping. The Schlafly Bottleworks (7260 Southwest Avenue, Maplewood; 314-241-2337 or www.schlafly.com) screens Mad City Chickens at 7:30 p.m. as part of its "Good Gardening, Good Food" film series. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated.
