Look, ice cream is awesome. If you dont like ice cream, you must be either lactose-intolerant or a communist (or both -- shudder). Ice cream even carries the heft of presidential approval; during his tenure, Ronald Reagan declared July to be National Ice Cream Month. And then the Great Communicator went one step further, designating the third Sunday of July National Ice Cream Day. Celebrate this most glorious occasion from 11 a.m. to around 9:30 p.m. today at Serendipity Homemade Ice Cream (8130 Big Bend Boulevard, Webster Groves). Events include a Hula-Hoop marathon, a rock-paper-scissors throw-down, balloon-blowing courtesy of Silly Jilly the Clown, live music from the Dangers and an Ultimate Sundae-Drawing Contest. And, of course, there will be sweet treats on hand all day (be sure to try the Bordeaux black cherry ice cream, mmm). To find out more about the activities (and about Serendipitys awesome roster of flavors), visit www.serendipity-icecream.com or call 314-962-2700.
