Ever Been Booted From or Banned From Any Place or Organization?

Week of July 16, 2003

Rachel Douchant
"No, I'm pretty well-behaved. I also think that if it's someone's property, it's up to them to decide what and who can be there. For instance, I've seen people get kicked out of Mississippi Nights for moshing too hard. Well, that's up to the owners of Mississippi Nights. People act like they're being repressed, but if you're not wanted there you can't be there."

Eric McSpadden
Harmonica Virtuoso
"Back in 1969, we got kicked out of a little country bar over in Illinois. We'd been to the Kickapoo Creek Rock Festival and later we stopped at this bar. They were playing Frank Sinatra on the jukebox and my friend, George, he unplugged the jukebox. We'd just heard Country Joe & The Fish and Canned Heat. We didn't want to hear Frank Sinatra."

Bruno Weldon
Bartender-Waiter, Kicker's Korner
"I got kicked out of P.T.'s. It was the first time I ever tried Mad Dog. At some point in the night I got up on the stage with the girl -- had my pants to my ankles -- and a couple of guys told me to leave. I got rude with them and said I'd put my clothes on but I wouldn't leave. Then the largest man in the world came and picked me up, put me over his shoulder, took me outside and threw me in a snowbank."

Nikki Schaefer
Author, Deathbed Pranks And Other Hijinks
"I've definitely been kicked out of places, but my most memorable event was one New Year's Eve at M.P. O'Reilly's. I drank Long Island Iced Teas for about nine people and ended up showing affection to every person in the bar -- male, female, whoever was there -- and the manager thought that was somehow inappropriate. And though I don't remember any of it, I heard later that decorum was, well, lacking."

Eddie Kim
Student, St. Louis University
"Well, I was in Chicago and me and my friend were playing pool. A couple of guys come up and one starts making comments about my ethnicity. He kept doing it and doing it, and then he pushed me and I punched him and as I punched him, his friend ran around the pool table and tackled me. Next thing I know, bouncers are all over us, and I said, 'Hey, it's not my fault. I just got called a chink!' That's how I got kicked out of a bar."

Trey Adams
Diviner, National Ground Water Association
"I was expelled from the Boy Scouts for pursuing a merit badge in trouser tenting."
