Eugenia Alexander | Evolving Archetypes

When: Fridays, 6-10 p.m., Saturdays, 1-4 p.m. and Sundays, 1-4 p.m. Continues through April 24 2016

April 8 through April 23 SOHA will feature the work of a rising star in the STL Arts scene, Eugenia Alexander. The exhibit, "Evolving Archetypes", will be her first solo exhibit in her hometown of Saint Louis. Featuring paintings on wood and canvas, Eugenia's work boldly unfurls to an almost ancient tribal-like tapestry. Her detailed mark-making and improvisation/expansion of pattern evoke West Central African textiles and architecture. Her distinctive style reflects African-American traditions of quilt-making and the stitches used to create compositions in fabric. Her grandmother is an avid quilter and directly inspired Eugenia’s own art.
