Enter Sandys-Woman

Mr. Night dearly wishes any one of his thirteen offspring would show even a modicum of the initiative shown by Edwina Sandys. The granddaughter of Winston Churchill has made her own way in the world by dint of her talent as an artist, rather than merely skating by on the family name (yes, that's directed at you, my bastard progeny). Sandys appears at 7 p.m. this evening at the Missouri History Museum (Lindell Boulevard and DeBaliviere Avenue) to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Sir Winston's "Iron Curtain" speech (delivered in Fulton, Missouri) and also to celebrate her own artistic achievements with a screening of the documentary One Bite of the Apple: A Portrait of the Artist Edwina Sandys. Admission is free, but reservations are required; call 314-361-9017. And at 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, Sandys visits the R. Duane Reed Gallery (7513 Forsyth Boulevard, Clayton; 314-862-2333), where a selection of her work is on display through Saturday, March 18.
