For the average Joe, the soundtrack to a head rush might include the melodious sounds of standing up too fast or the symphonic inflections of sucking on a balloon filled with helium. Louisville, Kentucky's Emanuel, however, showcases fits of rage and cries of urgency on its debut full-length, Soundtrack to a Headrush. The Vagrant Records quintet's screamo inflections and self-loathing mindset may not be particularly vertigo-inducing just yet (contrary to singer Matt Breen's claim that "This is the sound that sparks the fire" on opener "Hey Man!"), but give these angular riffs and guttural growls time to mature, and there's no limit to the sonic heights Emanuel may reach.
