The Tyler, Texas, pop-rock quintet Eisley is exclusively a family affair. With three female siblings (Sherri, Stacy and Chauntelle) lending their voices, and a brother (Weston) and cousin (Garron) comprising the rhythm section, the DuPrees compose pop songs fueled by infectious harmonies and an epic, melodramatic style that they admit is directly influenced by '90s emo godfather Jeremy Enigk of Sunny Day Real Estate. Eisley's latest full- length, Combinations, tends to meander a bit and isn't quite as focused lyrically as 2002's fantastic Room Noises. But Combinations still occasionally features the same catchy hooks that were Noises' centerpiece: "Taking Control" in particular displays Eisley's proficiency at writing big choruses that get stuck in one's head and refuse to leave.
