Eat On and On

This is the day when all diets should die, when your sense of restraint should be restrained and your first and last thoughts should be of pie. Thanksgiving is a day of eating, and it’s a marathon, not a sprint. You have to pace yourself and space out your meals if you want to be standing in the light of the fridge at midnight making a turkey sandwich. This is why brunch was invented -- think of it as a bridge between breakfast and lunch, not a compromise. RED Kitchen and Bar (315 Chestnut Street; call 314-342-4699 for reservations) offers a Thanksgiving brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today that stars lemon rosemary-brined Amish turkey, with maple-glazed ham and baron of beef as a supporting cast. There’s also a cranberry bar, which is exactly the sort of innovation this most American of holidays has been lacking. Admission is $17.50 for kids ages four to twelve and $39 for adults.
