Don't Be Yourself

Keep it secret, keep it safe

Mitchell Green is Hollywood's next big thing. Easy on the eyes and genuinely charming, he's the sort of romantic leading man for which a nation yearns. His only drawbacks — and these are slight, mind you — are his occasional flare-ups of homosexuality. Mitchell's fortunate to have Diane, a canny and blunt super-agent determined to keep his true nature hidden so she can reap a supreme payday. Her plans for Mitchell Green cannot, nay, will not fail. So when Mitchell becomes a little too publicly lovey-dovey with a certain escort from the Manhattan Schoolboys Agency, well, Diane must reach new heights in her agenting — or sink to new depths. Really, it's all the same in Douglas Carter Beane's biting showbiz satire The Little Dog Laughed. The Repertory Theatre's Off-Ramp series stages The Little Dog Laughed at 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and at 2 and 7 p.m. Sunday (November 5 through 30; no performance on Thursday, November 27), at the Grandel Theatre (3610 Grandel Square; or 314-968-4925). Tickets are $15 to $50.
