Suzan-Lori Parks' Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Top Dog/Underdog is about two black brothers who share the same run-down room. Booth, the younger brother, has plans to become a master of three-card monte, and practices incessantly if ineffectively. His older brother is named Lincoln, and he's a wizard at the card hustle. But Lincoln has left the game and gone straight; now he works in a carnival shooting booth, portraying Abraham Lincoln and miming his assassination for eager fairgoers. Booth derides his brother for his new career, while Lincoln tries to make his brother see the futility of living by the con. St. Louis Actors' Studio opens its seventh season with this dark comedy about brotherhood and hustling. Performances take place at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday (September 20 through October 6) at the Gaslight Theater (358 North Boyle Avenue; 314-458-2978 or www.stlas.org). Tickets are $25 to $30.
