Das Racist

8:30 p.m. Sunday, October 16. The Firebird, 2706 Olive Street.

Fresh off a satisfyingly baffling set at LouFest, the three smartest stoners in music return for a show in front of a presumably more prepared crowd, one ready for the group's echo chamber of self-effacement and cultural criticism. After a pair of densely packed (with surprising references, what herb did you think we meant?) mixtapes, this year's debut full-length Relax proved the group is capable of putting together something you could spend money on without feeling a little bit like the butt of a joke. It has hooks, guest verses and even some sincerity. Just joking?

Pronunciation Guide: It's a nasal A, as in the way the kid on Wonder Showzen says, "That's racist." The irony of pronouncing "Das" in German surely isn't lost on the group.
