For many of us, food is not merely life-sustaining nourishment. It's a hobby. Or perhaps an obsession. Those who are food-passionate know that nothing is more fun than trying an unknown cuisine, especially when said fare is at a festival. These events can really bring it on the delicious scale, and we're betting the Czech Festival will no doubt satisfy our hunger. The all-day feast — it runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. — is hosted by the American Czech Educational Center, and this organization's Web site (www.geocities.com/~acec-stl) offers up all kinds of recipes for Czech and Slovak foods. Here's hoping that there are plenty of those yummy meat and cheese dishes to go around! We can't wait! To further entertain us once we're full, the fest offers games and booths, plus music by the Button Box Club and the St. Louis Czech Express! The Czech Festival happens at 4690 Lansdowne Avenue, and admission is free; call 314-752-8168 for more information.
