Braid kindness' hair and learn all its secrets at the opening of the Art in Kind exhibition at Mad Art Gallery (2727 South 12th Street; 314-771-8230 or www.madart.com). Local artists Jay Alan Babcock, Amy Bautz, Deb Douglas, Tim Meehan and Jeremy Rabus founded the Kind Artist Collective in 2011 to foster more kindness in the world through art. The work in the show explores the human condition through the alchemy of color and line in both two-dimensional and installation art. Share in the collective's kind mission at the free opening reception from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, February 1. The work remains up through Monday, February 25, and hours are by appointment after opening night.
