It would be a mistake to judge Clouds by the imagery that its name calls to mind. Far from floating, fluffy or cumulus, the band's sound is a dense, drop-tuned assault of deep, bellowing guitar chugging, enormous drums and growling bass. Anchored by ex-Cave In guitarist Adam McGrath, Clouds took just one day to record its first album, 2007's Legendary Demo. The Boston band took slightly longer (a week) to track its follow-up, the recently released We Are Above You. These tongue-in-cheek titles indicate the group has no intention of taking itself too seriously, but make no mistake: The songs on You seriously rock. Songs combine Cave In's unmistakable big-guitar drone with classic-rock arrangements and battle-cry vocals that call to mind early Danzig without the cheesy guitar solos.
