Class Actress/MillionYoung

8 p.m. Thursday, March 24. The Old Rock House, 1200 South Seventh Street.

Vintage synths and frontwoman Elizabeth Harper's anodyne ardency lend an Italians Do It Better feel to Brooklyn breakouts Class Actress. (For the uninitiated, IDIB is a dance label formed by the owner of Troubleman Unlimited.) Class Actress' totally '80s aesthetic and amorous lyrics call to mind IDIB artists such as Glass Candy and Desire. This dance-leaning tag makes more sense than a common comparison, the reviled chillwave category (although Class Actress does an excellent cover of chillwave poster kids Neon Indian's "Terminally Chill"). MillionYoung, on the other hand, is all chill all the time — but his lush production, syncopated beats and sun-kissed somnolence redeem where others have failed to simply replicate.
