Christmas with the Chorale

Yule love it

We're a bare ten days from the most wonderful day of the year, and it's time to ask yourself that most difficult of questions: Have you heard enough Christmas music yet? If you've looked deep into your heart and determined there's room for still more holiday cheer, hitch the reindeer to the sleigh and jingle on over to the Sheldon Concert Hall (3648 Washington Boulevard; 314-534-1111 or for tonight's performance by the Sheldon Chorale. Yuletide Celebration is the name of the program, and it features favorites such as Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on Christmas Carols, Buxtehude's Command Thine Angel, That He Come and John Rutter's What Sweeter Music? You're also guaranteed to hear one you haven't heard before, specifically, the premiere of Tony Fathman's Late One Starry Night. The 25 members of the Sheldon Chorale are joined by a small ensemble of Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra musicians; Patrick Murphy provides the narration. The performance takes place at 8 p.m., and tickets are $10 to $15.
