Carry On, Carrie

Princess Leia's cinnamon-bun hairstyle, fierce independence and iconic copper brassiere catapulted Carrie Fisher to super-stardom, making her one of the most popular actresses of her generation. In 1987, she further established herself as a creative force when her best-selling book Postcards From The Edge netted the Los Angeles Pen Award for Best First Novel. Her new book Shockaholic details her recent use of shock therapy to counteract her clinical depression and recounts her friendship with Michael Jackson. On Sunday, November 4, Fisher opens up and talks about her life, her illness and her books at the opening night of the St. Louis Jewish Book Festival. Carrie Fisher delivers the keynote address in a live, on-stage interview with KMOX's Charles Brennan at 7 p.m. in the Jewish Community Center (2 Millstone Campus Drive, Creve Coeur). Admission is $36. The Jewish Book Festival continues through Thursday, November 15. For the full schedule and list of participating authors, visit
