Habitués of the local theater scene no doubt recognize the name Ben Nordstrom. You've enjoyed his affable manner and clear singing voice in Stages St. Louis productions such as Footloose (for which he won a Kevin Kline award as Ren) and Little Women (he made a tender and slightly goofy Laurie), as well as in shows with the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis and New Jewish Theatre. Nordstrom's just as entertaining when he's not playing a lead, however; his turn as one of the bickering councilmen-turned-barbershop-quartet in The Music Man (also with Stages) was a classic example of the "there are no small roles" corollary. Today at 11 a.m. at the Sheldon (3648 Washington Boulevard; 314-533-9900 or www.thesheldon.org), Nordstrom takes center stage in The Music of Broadway, a cabaret-style tribute to the works of Rodgers and Hammerstein, Gershwin and Sondheim. Tickets are a steal at $5 to $10.
