Now, more than ever, you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows. There are dozens of websites that will quickly and (for the most part) accurately provide hourly and ten-day forecasts specific to any ZIP code. The public needs a little more incentive to sit through local human-interest stories and sports recaps than simply a curiosity about cold fronts or a fondness for thunderstorms. KSDK-TV (Channel 5)'s Chester Lampkin has that something extra that makes the wait worthwhile. He's immensely likable as he professionally predicts the bistate area's climate patterns. A YouTube search will lead to dozens of videos spanning Lampkin's seven-year career from Jefferson City to Columbia and back to his hometown, St. Louis, including an adorable blooper reel that paints the young meteorologist as just geeky enough to be trustworthy with an adorable edge so that, just as much as you want to watch Lampkin as he accurately charts the path of a vicious storm, you wouldn't mind cuddling up with him, a battery-powered radio and some candles until the thunder ceases.
