KDHX (88.1 FM) is St. Louis' much-loved independent radio station, going strong for more than 25 years. Not content to simply provide St. Louis with quality programming and the widest range of music in town, the station recently acquired a new building to call home in the heart of Grand Center. Now dubbed the Larry J. Weir Center for Independent Media — so named in honor of the station's long-time operations manager who passed away in 2010 — the new space will house a full-fledged music venue, in addition to the studios. A Kickstarter campaign to fund the ambitious project surpassed $50,000 in just sixteen days — proof positive that St. Louis is not only for KDHX, but also that it is willing to put its money where its radio dial is.
